Aircraft model

CESSNA 210E

Everything here is true of every aircraft of the type, not of any one aircraft.

The 1965 Centurion, with 285 hp and a higher gross weight than the earlier aircraft. It cruises at 170 knots and carries 1,240 lb, still on the strut-braced wing that the cantilever design replaced two years later.

The extra power is worth having and the aeroplane remains inexpensive for its speed. The standing considerations are the same across the early 210s: a complicated hydraulic gear system with doors that must be swung and inspected, and the 2020 wing spar carry-through airworthiness directive whose compliance status is the first thing to establish. Fuel burn is around 15 gallons an hour. Insurance requires complex and high-performance endorsements and real retractable time; underwriters treat the 210 as a step above a Bonanza.
