Aircraft model

CESSNA 310I

Everything here is true of every aircraft of the type, not of any one aircraft.

The 1964 Cessna 310, from the generation with the canted tip tanks that replaced the straight ones and fuel injection in place of carburettors. It seats six, cruises at 185 knots and is a noticeably more developed aeroplane than the 1950s versions.

Fuel injection removes carburettor icing as a concern and gives more even distribution, which is a genuine improvement. The tip-tank fuel system remains complicated and the cross-feed rules must be learned. Light-twin costs apply in full: two IO-470s and two propellers to overhaul, plus an annual inspection several times a single's. At this age corrosion, damage history and engine provenance decide the price, and the avionics will almost certainly need replacing to be legal in modern airspace.
