Aircraft model

CESSNA T210F

Everything here is true of every aircraft of the type, not of any one aircraft.

The T210F is the first turbocharged Centurion, from 1966. Cessna fitted a turbocharged Continental to the strut-braced airframe, giving it a 27,000-foot ceiling and about 190 knots in the high teens — a considerable jump over the normally aspirated aircraft and the start of the turbocharged 210 line that ran for twenty years.

Being the first, it is also the least developed: the strut-braced wing, the early complicated gear system with doors, and a turbocharger installation that later models refined. The TSIO-520 runs hot and is hard on exhaust systems, and cracked exhaust components are both a power and a carbon monoxide problem. The 2020 wing spar carry-through airworthiness directive applies. Without pressurisation the ceiling means oxygen for everyone, which limits how the altitude capability is actually used.
