Aircraft model

CESSNA T210N

Everything here is true of every aircraft of the type, not of any one aircraft.

The 1980 Turbo Centurion, from the run that deleted the main landing gear doors and so removed the most troublesome part of the earlier 210's hydraulic system. It is the most refined of the turbocharged Centurions: six seats, 310 hp, nearly 200 knots in the high teens, and a useful load around 1,450 lb. For an owner who needs to move five or six people quickly over terrain or weather, very little else at this price competes.

The expenses are real and continuous. Budget 17-18 gallons an hour, a large turbocharged Continental overhaul, and close annual attention to the turbocharger, wastegate and exhaust system. The 2020 wing spar carry-through airworthiness directive applies to this aircraft and its compliance and findings should be established before any offer. Without pressurisation the 27,000-foot ceiling is theoretical; in practice everyone is on oxygen above the mid-teens. Insurance requires complex and high-performance endorsements, retractable time and usually a formal transition course.
