Aero Adventure Aventura II

These figures describe a typical build. Each aircraft of this design was built by its owner, and the one you are looking at may differ.

The Aventura II is Aero Adventure's two-seat amphibious flying-boat kit from Florida, the Rotax 912-powered version of a family descended from the Buccaneer: a fabric-covered high wing on a composite hull with a pusher engine and retractable wheels, sold as an amateur-built kit since the late 1990s.

It is one of the cheapest amphibians that will carry two people, and the research found no manufacturer figures for the II at all, so the aircraft's own weight-and-balance, test-flight data and the kit's documentation are the only numbers; a 912 example is the one to want, since the 582-engined Sport is a two-stroke amphibian with that engine's care and overhaul life. Hull condition, the retraction mechanism, fabric age and whether the engine has lived in salt water are the inspection, and the builder's workmanship on a kit of this kind varies widely. The owner may maintain it and the condition inspection needs an A&P or the repairman certificate; Aero Adventure remains in business.

  3. Access: class median 1,000.
  4. Support: class median 77.5.

  6. Each of the five categories places the model within its peer class, from 0 (the worst of the class) to 10 (the best): a position among comparable models, not a grade. The overall score is the sum of the categories shown that are scored, out of 10 for each (50 when all five are); it is given only when at least 4 of the five are scored, and it can be set against another model's only when both are in the same peer class and scored on the same categories. When accident record and severity cannot be scored because the model has too few records, the other three give a partial score out of 30, labelled as such; it is never set against a full score.
