AERO COMMANDER 200
Everything here is true of every aircraft of the type, not of any one aircraft.
The Meyers 200 is one of the best-built light aircraft ever certificated and almost nobody has heard of it: a four-seat retractable with a welded steel tube centre section, a stressed-skin wing and an airframe so over-engineered that the type has essentially no structural service history. Aero Commander bought the design in 1965 and sold it as the Commander 200 for two more years before deciding it cost too much to build.
That is the whole story of the aeroplane. It is faster than a Bonanza of the same power, stronger than anything in its class, and only about 130 were ever made, so parts are a matter of the owners' association and a small specialist trade. The people who own them do not sell them. For a buyer the practical questions are whether the airframe has a documented history, what has been done to the engine, and whether there is a shop within reach that has seen one before.

- Each of the five categories places the model within its peer class, from 0 (the worst of the class) to 10 (the best): a position among comparable models, not a grade. The overall score is the sum of the categories shown that are scored, out of 10 for each (50 when all five are); it is given only when at least 4 of the five are scored, and it can be set against another model's only when both are in the same peer class and scored on the same categories.
