Aircraft model
AVIAT INC A-1
Everything here is true of every aircraft of the type, not of any one aircraft.
The Husky A-1 recorded under the Aviat Inc name, from the period when the company was known by that form before becoming Aviat Aircraft. It is the same two-seat tandem taildragger: 180 hp, big flaps, a large wing and 1,500 fpm of climb.
It is a modern design rather than a Cub derivative, with better systems and a stronger structure than the aeroplane it competes with, and it is used by agencies and backcountry pilots for the same work. The 1,800 lb gross weight of the A-1 limits useful load to 600 lb, which is two adults and modest fuel; the later A-1B and A-1C address that. Aviat is a small company, so parts support is attentive but not on the scale of a Textron. Fabric is the eventual major cost.
