Aircraft model

BEECH A23-24

Everything here is true of every aircraft of the type, not of any one aircraft.

The Musketeer Super, with the 200 hp fuel-injected Lycoming in place of the 160 hp carburetted one. The extra power addresses the standard Musketeer's main weakness — it climbs properly and cruises at 130 knots, which is competitive rather than embarrassing — and the useful load rises above 1,000 lb.

It is the version of the Musketeer worth looking at, and it is still cheap because the family's reputation was set by the underpowered early aircraft. At exactly 200 hp no high-performance endorsement applies, which makes it an easy step up. The cabin and the two doors remain genuinely good. Beech parts pricing is the recurring annoyance on an aeroplane in this price bracket.
