BRM Aero Bristell B23M
Everything here is true of every aircraft of the type, not of any one aircraft.
The Bristell B23 is BRM Aero's type-certificated development of its Bristell light-sport aircraft - a longer fuselage, a larger rudder, bigger flaps and stabiliser, a 51-inch cabin, 750 kg (1,653 lb) gross and four Rotax engine options - certified under EASA CS-23 from 2020; the B23M is the same airframe sold in the United States as a MOSAIC light-sport aircraft, and with the 160 hp 916iS BRM quotes 130 knots at 75%, 608 nm, 1,320 fpm and an 18,000 ft ceiling.
The B23 brings a certified-aircraft structure and flight-school economics to the light-sport cabin, and the choice of engine is the choice of aeroplane: the 912iS gives 661 lb of useful load and 780 nm at 106 knots, the turbocharged 916iS 573 lb, 130 knots and a cruise that holds up at altitude, with a 1,200-hour TBO on the 915 against 2,000 on the others. The three on the US register are new B23-916M examples, so the fleet history is nil and the buyer is relying on BRM's certification work and the US dealer network. As a MOSAIC light-sport aircraft the B23M is maintained to BRM's instructions by an A&P or LSA repairman; the certificated B23 follows Part 23 rules. Mogas or avgas, a constant-speed MT propeller on the certified version, and a BRS parachute standard on the B23 and optional on the M are the practical differences from the older Bristell.

- Each of the five categories places the model within its peer class, from 0 (the worst of the class) to 10 (the best): a position among comparable models, not a grade. The overall score is the sum of the categories shown that are scored, out of 10 for each (50 when all five are); it is given only when at least 4 of the five are scored, and it can be set against another model's only when both are in the same peer class and scored on the same categories. When accident record and severity cannot be scored because the model has too few records, the other three give a partial score out of 30, labelled as such; it is never set against a full score.
