Aircraft model
CESSNA 182K
Everything here is true of every aircraft of the type, not of any one aircraft.
The 1967 Skylane. Same engine, weights and performance as the years around it; the differences are cosmetic and in equipment options. It remains a four-seat high-wing tourer with a real load, a slow landing speed and enough power to operate comfortably from grass and from airfields several thousand feet up.
If you are choosing between the mid- and late-1960s letters, choose on the individual aeroplane rather than the year. Engine hours since overhaul, avionics, corrosion, damage history and whether it has been hangared are what determine both price and what you will spend afterwards. The standing 182 items are the firewall and nose gear, the fuel bladders and the seat rails. The type has excellent parts support and is one of the easiest four-seaters in the world to get insured on with a high-performance endorsement and modest total time.

- Each of the five categories places the model within its peer class, from 0 (the worst of the class) to 10 (the best): a position among comparable models, not a grade. The overall score is the sum of the categories shown that are scored, out of 10 for each (50 when all five are); it is given only when at least 4 of the five are scored, and it can be set against another model's only when both are in the same peer class and scored on the same categories.
