Aircraft model

CESSNA 210D

Everything here is true of every aircraft of the type, not of any one aircraft.

The 1964 Centurion, with the 285 hp IO-470-S in place of the 260 hp engine and a higher gross weight. It cruises at 170 knots and carries 1,250 lb, still on the strut-braced wing that the cantilever design replaced three years later.

The extra power is worth having and the aeroplane remains inexpensive for its speed. The standing considerations are the same across the early 210s: a complicated hydraulic gear system with doors that must be swung and inspected, and the 2020 wing spar carry-through airworthiness directive whose compliance status is the first thing to establish. Fuel burn is around 15 gallons an hour. Insurance requires complex and high-performance endorsements and real retractable time; underwriters treat the 210 as a step above a Bonanza.
