Aircraft model
CESSNA 525B
Everything here is true of every aircraft of the type, not of any one aircraft.
The Citation CJ3, a further stretch of the CitationJet line with more powerful Williams FJ44-3A engines, a longer cabin with a proper lavatory, and nearly 1,900 nautical miles of range. It is the aeroplane in the family that first feels like a full business jet rather than a light one, and it is one of the most popular aircraft in its segment for exactly that reason. The CJ3 as built by Cessna, 2004 to 2014, has the Collins Pro Line 21 flight deck; the CJ3+ that replaced it under the Textron name from 2014 has the same engines and airframe with the Garmin G3000, so the panel is the main thing that dates a 525B.
It carries six or seven passengers, is certified for single-pilot operation, and shares the CE-525 type rating with the rest of the family. What it offers over a CJ2 is range and cabin, and over a CJ4 it offers a lower purchase and operating cost. The constraints are the usual jet arithmetic — full fuel leaves a limited cabin load, so a maximum-range leg means four passengers rather than seven — plus two engines on a programme, recurrent simulator training and hangarage. Runway performance is unusually good for the class, which is a large part of its appeal to operators using shorter regional fields.

- Each of the five categories places the model within its peer class, from 0 (the worst of the class) to 10 (the best): a position among comparable models, not a grade. The overall score is the sum of the categories shown that are scored, out of 10 for each (50 when all five are); it is given only when at least 4 of the five are scored, and it can be set against another model's only when both are in the same peer class and scored on the same categories.
