Aircraft model
DASSAULT-BREGUET MYSTERE FALCON 900
Everything here is true of every aircraft of the type, not of any one aircraft.
The Falcon 900 is a three-engine long-range business jet, and the third engine is the whole point of it: an aircraft with three engines can fly oceanic routes without the diversion planning that constrains twins, and it retains a large performance margin if one fails. Dassault is the only manufacturer that has ever built trijets for this market.
It carries twelve people 3,800 nautical miles, lands remarkably short for its size at about 2,400 feet, and has the control harmony Dassault's fighter heritage tends to produce. The cost of the third engine is exactly what it sounds like: three overhauls, three hot sections, three sets of accessories. These early Dassault-Breguet aircraft are the cheapest way into the type and are now around forty years old, which means their maintenance and avionics upgrade costs will dominate the purchase price several times over.

- Each of the five categories places the model within its peer class, from 0 (the worst of the class) to 10 (the best): a position among comparable models, not a grade. The overall score is the sum of the categories shown that are scored, out of 10 for each (50 when all five are); it is given only when at least 4 of the five are scored, and it can be set against another model's only when both are in the same peer class and scored on the same categories.
