EMBRAER EXECUTIVE AIRCRAFT INC EMB-505
Everything here is true of every aircraft of the type, not of any one aircraft.
The Phenom 300 is the best-selling light business jet of the last decade and a half. It carries up to nine passengers about 2,000 nautical miles at 453 knots, with a cabin that has a proper flat floor, a real lavatory and an airstair door, and — unusually for the class — it is certified for single-pilot operation, which owner-pilots and small operators value highly. Deliveries began at the end of 2009 with the Garmin G1000-based Prodigy flight deck. The Phenom 300E of 2018 brought a redesigned interior and the G3000-based Prodigy Touch deck, and the 2020 upgrade of the 300E added more thrust, a Mach 0.80 cruise and a runway-overrun warning system, so a 2015, a 2018 and a 2021 aircraft are three distinct steps under one name. A 2020 aircraft is a Phenom 300E with the Garmin G3000 flight deck and the redesigned interior.
It is the aircraft that made the light jet segment genuinely competitive with the midsize one, because it flies higher and faster than its price class suggests and has a good runway performance record. The realistic limits are the usual jet trade: with full fuel the cabin load is under 2,000 lb, so a maximum-range leg means four or five people. Operating costs are around 130-150 gallons an hour plus engine programme, maintenance reserves and training. An EMB-505 type rating is required, with single-pilot privileges available through additional training, and insurers will require recurrent simulator training annually and usually a mentor pilot for a first-time jet owner. Embraer's support network is smaller than Textron's but has improved substantially.
