Cessna 175 Skylark

4 models built 1958–1962 · 927 on the US register today

The Skylark, built 1958-1962 to slot between the 172 and the 182: a 172 airframe with a geared Continental GO-300 turning a large slow propeller to extract 175 hp, giving better climb and a few more knots. The geared engine's reputation is what defines the type today. Its type certificate (3A17) later carried the R172 and 172RG.
