Glasair I / II / Super II
1 model built 1980 · 364 on the US register today
The Glasair I and II, Tom Hamilton's two-seat side-by-side composite kit from Stoddard-Hamilton Aircraft: the Glasair TD first flew in 1979 and the kit introduced at Oshkosh in 1980 was the first pre-moulded composite aircraft offered to builders, with 807 Glasair Is built. The Glasair II of 1989 refined it on a 23.3 ft GA(W)-2 wing of 81.3 sq ft as the fixed-tricycle FT, retractable RG and taildragger TD, with the Super II-S adding a 12-inch stretch; the wing was tested to +10.5 g, engines run 160-210 hp, and 1,200 Glasair IIs were flying by 2011. A registry GLASAIR entry can be any of them, so the aircraft's own paperwork says which.
