Viking Dragonfly

The Viking Dragonfly, Bob Walters' 1980 two-seat tandem-wing canard homebuilt developed from the Rutan Quickie idea in foam and fibreglass, sold as plans and kits by Viking Aircraft of Elkhorn, Wisconsin, with about 500 flying by 1998: a side-by-side cockpit, Volkswagen-derived or Jabiru engines of 60-80 hp, a 22 ft span and a 130-140 mph cruise on very little fuel. The Mk I carried its main wheels in the wingtips, the Mk II has conventional tailwheel gear and the Mk III is a tricycle.
