Zenith STOL CH 701

The Zenith STOL CH 701, Chris Heintz's all-metal two-seat bush kit, first flown in 1986 and still in production from Zenith Aircraft of Mexico, Missouri (Zenair in Canada; licence-built in Europe by Czech Aircraft Works 1992-2006): fixed full-span leading-edge slats, flaperons, an all-flying rudder, an inverted elevator, big tyres and tricycle gear on a 27 ft wing, with 1,100 lb gross. Engines run from the 64 hp Rotax 582 through the 80-100 hp Rotax 912 and Jabiru 2200 to small Continentals; 870 had been completed by December 2011 and it is said to be the most copied light aircraft in production. Flown in the United States as amateur-built or light-sport; the larger CH 750 (2008) and the four-seat CH 801 were developed from it.
