Aircraft model

HAWKER BEECHCRAFT CORP 390

Everything here is true of every aircraft of the type, not of any one aircraft.

The Premier IA is a light jet with a carbon fibre fuselage wound on a machine rather than riveted from aluminium, which let Beechcraft make the cabin wider than anything else in the class without the weight penalty. It is fast for its size at 451 knots and it is single-pilot certified.

Two things dominate ownership. The first is landing distance: at 3,170 feet over a fifty-foot obstacle the Premier needs more runway to stop than to take off, which is unusual and which constrains where it can operate; brake and thrust reverser questions have followed the type throughout its life. The second is that Hawker Beechcraft went bankrupt in 2012 and Textron discontinued the line. Parts are supported but the fleet is small, composite fuselage repair is specialised, and residual values have been weak. The cabin width is real and so are both of those problems.

These record scores treat HAWKER BEECHCRAFT CORP 390 as one design with the same aircraft registered under other names: it includes 130 aircraft registered under RAYTHEON AIRCRAFT COMPANY. Prices are not combined.

  1. Accident record: class median 1.23 · 42 models in class.
  2. Severity: class median 10.
  3. Access: class median 9,850.
  4. Support: class median 197.5.
  5. Liquidity: class median 32.81.
  6. Each of the five categories places the model within its peer class, from 0 (the worst of the class) to 10 (the best): a position among comparable models, not a grade. The overall score is the sum of the categories shown that are scored, out of 10 for each (50 when all five are); it is given only when at least 4 of the five are scored, and it can be set against another model's only when both are in the same peer class and scored on the same categories.
