HAWKER BEECHCRAFT CORP G58
Everything here is true of every aircraft of the type, not of any one aircraft.
The Baron G58 is the Model 58 with the Garmin G1000 flight deck, built here under the Hawker Beechcraft name. Two 300 hp Continentals give 200 knots, a 1,700 fpm climb and 1,480 nautical miles on 194 gallons, with six seats, club seating and the large double cargo doors that make the Baron genuinely practical.
It is the piston twin most owners aspire to and the running costs are correspondingly serious: two engines to overhaul, about thirty-four gallons an hour, two propellers, two turbochargers' worth of accessories on the turbo variants, and twin-engine insurance that requires currency. The useful load of 1,360 lb sounds generous until you fill 194 gallons of fuel, which consumes most of it. What you get for that is real: a genuinely capable all-weather aeroplane, excellent handling and the best parts support of any light twin.
