ISRAEL AIRCRAFT INDUSTRIES GULFSTREAM 200
Everything here is true of every aircraft of the type, not of any one aircraft.
The Gulfstream 200 began life as the Galaxy, designed and built by Israel Aircraft Industries, and became a Gulfstream when Gulfstream bought Galaxy Aerospace in 2001. It is a super-midsize jet with a genuinely large stand-up cabin and 3,400 nautical miles of range, which for years was more transcontinental capability than anything else at the price.
The cabin and the range are what people buy, and both are real. What they trade for them is airport performance: the G200 is heavy for its wing and needs over 6,000 feet of runway at weight, which rules out a lot of shorter fields its competitors can use. Airframes are now fifteen to twenty-five years old with the maintenance profile that implies. Support runs through Gulfstream, which is a strong position, though the airframe is Israeli-built and some structural parts have longer lead times.

- Each of the five categories places the model within its peer class, from 0 (the worst of the class) to 10 (the best): a position among comparable models, not a grade. The overall score is the sum of the categories shown that are scored, out of 10 for each (50 when all five are); it is given only when at least 4 of the five are scored, and it can be set against another model's only when both are in the same peer class and scored on the same categories.
