Aircraft model

MAULE M-6-235

Everything here is true of every aircraft of the type, not of any one aircraft.

The M-6-235 is the long-wing Maule, with about two feet more span than the M-5 and a higher gross weight. The longer wing lowers the stall speed and improves the short-field performance that is the whole point of the type, and it carries a thousand pounds.

For anyone buying a Maule to use its short-field capability, the M-6 is the one to look at: the extra span is a genuine improvement and the 235 hp Lycoming O-540 is a durable, well-supported engine. Build quality remains functional rather than refined and the cabin is narrow for four adults. Fabric is the recurring cost. Float and ski installations are common and are what many of these aircraft are used for. Maule remains in business, which helps parts availability.
