Aircraft model

MAULE MT-7-235

Everything here is true of every aircraft of the type, not of any one aircraft.

The MT-7-235 is the tricycle-gear version of Maule's long-wing four-seater. Maule offers most of its aircraft in both tailwheel and nosewheel form, and the T in the designation is what marks the nosewheel variant.

For a buyer the significance is regulatory as much as practical: a tricycle Maule needs no tailwheel endorsement, which makes the type's short-field capability accessible to pilots who have never flown a taildragger. The cost is some of that capability — the nosewheel adds weight and drag and is less suited to rough ground, which is where a Maule earns its keep. It also makes the aeroplane less interesting to the backcountry market, so tricycle Maules generally sell for slightly less than equivalent tailwheel ones.

The overall score is the sum of the categories shown that are scored, out of 10 for each (50 when all five are); it is given only when at least 4 of the five are scored, and it can be set against another model's only when both are in the same peer class and scored on the same categories.
