MOONEY M-20G
Everything here is true of every aircraft of the type, not of any one aircraft.
The Mooney Statesman is the long-body M20F airframe fitted with the 180 hp engine from the short-body M20C. Mooney built it briefly as a lower-cost entry into the stretched cabin, and the result is the slowest Mooney of its generation at 145 knots.
That is still efficient by most standards — 145 knots on nine or ten gallons an hour with four seats and a back seat adults can use — and it is the cheapest way into a long-body Mooney. It sold poorly because buyers wanted the 200 hp M20F, so the fleet is small. Otherwise the Mooney rules apply: a narrow low cabin worn rather than sat in, a clean airframe that floats a long way if flown fast on final, wet-wing fuel tank sealant leaks that are expensive to fix, and landing gear shock discs needing periodic replacement.

- Each of the five categories places the model within its peer class, from 0 (the worst of the class) to 10 (the best): a position among comparable models, not a grade. The overall score is the sum of the categories shown that are scored, out of 10 for each (50 when all five are); it is given only when at least 4 of the five are scored, and it can be set against another model's only when both are in the same peer class and scored on the same categories.
