Aircraft model
PILATUS AIRCRAFT LTD PC-12/47
Everything here is true of every aircraft of the type, not of any one aircraft.
The PC-12/47 is the 4,740 kg variant, which is 10,450 lb — about 500 lb more maximum weight than the /45 it replaced, and correspondingly more useful load. It carries up to nine passengers in a pressurised cabin at 270 knots, with a large rear cargo door and the ability to use short unpaved strips.
It was built for only a few years before the /47E with the Honeywell Apex flight deck arrived in 2008, so it is the last of the analogue-cockpit PC-12s and sits between the older /45 and the modern NG in both capability and price. The avionics are the main thing separating it from a newer aircraft, and upgrading them is a substantial investment. Otherwise the ownership picture is standard turbine: hot sections, an eventual six-figure overhaul, 60 to 70 gallons an hour, and insurer-mandated initial and annual recurrent simulator training.

- Each of the five categories places the model within its peer class, from 0 (the worst of the class) to 10 (the best): a position among comparable models, not a grade. The overall score is the sum of the categories shown that are scored, out of 10 for each (50 when all five are); it is given only when at least 4 of the five are scored, and it can be set against another model's only when both are in the same peer class and scored on the same categories.
