Aircraft model
PILATUS AIRCRAFT LTD PC-12/47G
Everything here is true of every aircraft of the type, not of any one aircraft.
A PC-12 in the 4,740 kg weight class — the /47 designation encodes that maximum weight, 10,450 lb, just as /45 encodes 4,500 kg. This is the single-engine turbine that redefined the category: 280 knots, 1,800 nautical miles, a pressurised cabin with a cargo door big enough for a pallet, and the ability to operate from grass and gravel.
It is the aircraft most owners move to when a King Air's second engine stops being worth its cost, and the argument has won: more PC-12s have been sold than any comparable twin. A single PT6A-67P is the most reliable turbine in service, and the airframe carries nine people with real bags. What it costs is several million dollars plus a large single-engine turbine overhaul, and single-engine operation at night over inhospitable terrain remains a decision each owner makes for themselves.

- Each of the five categories places the model within its peer class, from 0 (the worst of the class) to 10 (the best): a position among comparable models, not a grade. The overall score is the sum of the categories shown that are scored, out of 10 for each (50 when all five are); it is given only when at least 4 of the five are scored, and it can be set against another model's only when both are in the same peer class and scored on the same categories.
