PIPER PA-46-600TP
Everything here is true of every aircraft of the type, not of any one aircraft.
The Piper M600 is the current top of the PA-46 line: a pressurised six-seat single-engine turboprop with a new, larger wing carrying more fuel, a PT6A-42A flat-rated to 600 shp, and the Garmin G3000 flight deck. It cruises at 274 knots at 30,000 feet with just under 1,500 nautical miles of range. The aeroplane did not change; the safety systems did. The M600 was certified in 2016. From May 2020 it has been built as the M600/SLS with Piper's HALO package — Garmin Autoland, which flies the aircraft to a runway and lands it if the pilot is incapacitated, plus autothrottle, emergency descent mode and electronic stability protection — and the M600/SLS was the first aircraft in the world certified with Autoland. A 2017 to 2019 aircraft lacks it and, because the package is tied to the G3000 fit and the autothrottle, it is not a simple retrofit. For most buyers that is the dividing line in the used market.
The new wing is the important change from the Meridian it replaced, because it fixes that aeroplane's defining weakness: the M600 carries about 2,200 lb of useful load where a Meridian carries 1,700, so the six seats and the range are closer to usable together. Later aircraft add Garmin Autoland, which lands the aeroplane without pilot input at the touch of a button. Costs are turbine costs — hot sections, an eventual six-figure overhaul, and around 42 gallons an hour. Insurers require formal initial and annual recurrent simulator training.

- Each of the five categories places the model within its peer class, from 0 (the worst of the class) to 10 (the best): a position among comparable models, not a grade. The overall score is the sum of the categories shown that are scored, out of 10 for each (50 when all five are); it is given only when at least 4 of the five are scored, and it can be set against another model's only when both are in the same peer class and scored on the same categories.
