Rans S-20 Raven
These figures describe a typical build. Each aircraft of this design was built by its owner, and the one you are looking at may differ.
The Rans S-20 Raven is Randy Schlitter's side-by-side two-seat bush kit that combines the S-7 Courier's welded steel-tube fuselage with the S-6's wing: a 30 ft 3 in span, a 46-inch cabin, 732 lb empty and 1,320 lb gross on a Rotax 912ULS, quoted at 112 mph cruise, a 33 mph stall, 900 fpm and 582 miles, with tailwheel or tricycle gear and 915/916 engine kits now offered.
The Raven is the Rans for someone who wants the Courier's ruggedness with a passenger beside rather than behind, and it is a 1,320 lb kit aeroplane with the limits that implies: 588 lb of useful load on the factory's empty weight, less on most finished aircraft, so two adults and 26 gallons is a weight-and-balance exercise. Builders fit the 912ULS or increasingly the turbocharged 915/916, which changes climb, weight and maintenance; the engine fitted, the builder's log and the weight-and-balance are the record. Fabric covering over steel and aluminium tube is straightforward to inspect and the Rans parts and factory support are good. The owner may maintain it and the condition inspection needs an A&P or the repairman certificate; kits are in production.

- Support: class median 77.5.
- Liquidity: class median 20.
- Each of the five categories places the model within its peer class, from 0 (the worst of the class) to 10 (the best): a position among comparable models, not a grade. The overall score is the sum of the categories shown that are scored, out of 10 for each (50 when all five are); it is given only when at least 4 of the five are scored, and it can be set against another model's only when both are in the same peer class and scored on the same categories. When accident record and severity cannot be scored because the model has too few records, the other three give a partial score out of 30, labelled as such; it is never set against a full score.
