The Diamond Star, built since 1997: a composite four-seat single with a long glider-like wing, a forward-hinged canopy and a separate rear door, cruising at 150 knots on 180 hp with fixed gear and a benign stall. The DA40 F is the fixed-pitch-propeller carburetted version; the DA40 NG (2010 on) has the Austro AE 300 diesel burning Jet-A at about six gallons an hour.
