Rans S-6 Coyote II
1 model · 291 on the US register today
The Rans S-6 Coyote II, the side-by-side two-seat high-wing that Randy Schlitter developed from the S-4/S-5 Coyote and first flew in 1988: a welded 4130 steel cockpit, riveted aluminium-tube rear fuselage and fabric covering, offered with tricycle or conventional gear and on floats and skis. The S-6ES (extended span) replaced the original S-6 in April 1990 and uses pre-sewn Dacron envelopes; the S-6S Super Coyote of 1993 is the dope-and-fabric version. Engines went from the 50 hp Rotax 503 to today's 80-100 hp Rotax 912; some 2,100 had been built by 2011, and one S-6ES has crossed the Atlantic twice.
