Flight Design F2

Everything here is true of every aircraft of the type, not of any one aircraft.

The Flight Design F2 is the 2020 successor to the CT series, a German composite high-wing light-sport two-seater with a 32.3 ft wing, a wider cabin and a whole-aircraft parachute as standard: 838 lb empty and 1,320 lb gross with a Rotax 912iS, 34 gallons of fuel and a 126-knot maximum level speed.

The F2 is the current production Flight Design, built since 2020 in Germany and the Czech Republic, and the newest examples carry the Garmin G3X and autopilot packages that push asking prices toward $250,000; it is a light-sport aircraft with a Part 23-style structure and a BRS as standard, bought for its cabin, docile handling and economy. Useful load at the US 1,320 lb limit is about 480 lb, which with 34 gallons aboard leaves about 280 lb for people - the F2's weight is the price of its structure and equipment - so most owners fly it with less than full tanks. No cruise or stall figure appears on the manufacturer's page read here. As an S-LSA it is maintained to Flight Design's manual by an A&P or LSA repairman, with US support through Flight Design USA.

  6. Each of the five categories places the model within its peer class, from 0 (the worst of the class) to 10 (the best): a position among comparable models, not a grade. The overall score is the sum of the categories shown that are scored, out of 10 for each (50 when all five are); it is given only when at least 4 of the five are scored, and it can be set against another model's only when both are in the same peer class and scored on the same categories. When accident record and severity cannot be scored because the model has too few records, the other three give a partial score out of 30, labelled as such; it is never set against a full score.
