Rans S-19 Venterra
These figures describe a typical build. Each aircraft of this design was built by its owner, and the one you are looking at may differ.
The Rans S-19 Venterra is Rans's all-metal low-wing two-seater of 2007, a departure from the company's tube-and-fabric high-wings: pulled-rivet aluminium with a sliding canopy, tricycle gear and a Rotax 912ULS, 820 lb empty and 1,320 lb gross, quoted at 128 mph cruise, a 45 mph stall, 900 fpm and 580 miles; sold as a kit and as the factory-built S-19LS.
The Venterra is a light-sport low-wing in the Sierra and Sling mould from a company better known for bush planes, and it is now a rare one: Rans has limited the model to parts and kit completions, so the small fleet depends on factory parts rather than ongoing production. At 1,320 lb its 500 lb useful load is tight for two adults and 24 gallons. A kit-built S-19 is amateur-built or E-LSA with the builder's workmanship to inspect; an S-19LS is an S-LSA maintained to Rans's manual by an A&P or LSA repairman. The riveted metal structure is easy to inspect and the Rotax 912 is well understood.

- Each of the five categories places the model within its peer class, from 0 (the worst of the class) to 10 (the best): a position among comparable models, not a grade. The overall score is the sum of the categories shown that are scored, out of 10 for each (50 when all five are); it is given only when at least 4 of the five are scored, and it can be set against another model's only when both are in the same peer class and scored on the same categories. When accident record and severity cannot be scored because the model has too few records, the other three give a partial score out of 30, labelled as such; it is never set against a full score.
