CubCrafters Carbon Cub FX-2
These figures describe a typical build. Each aircraft of this design was built by its owner, and the one you are looking at may differ.
The Carbon Cub FX-2 is the factory-assisted build of the Carbon Cub EX-2: the owner spends about two weeks at CubCrafters in Yakima completing a fuselage and wings the factory has largely prepared, and the aircraft leaves as an experimental amateur-built 180 hp Carbon Cub at 1,865 lb gross with 44-gallon long-range tanks as standard.
The point of the FX programme is a Carbon Cub with the EX's weight allowance and a build quality close to the factory S-LSA, which is also why these aircraft trade close to factory prices rather than at homebuilt discounts. The amateur-built certificate still means the owner, not the factory, is the manufacturer of record: the repairman certificate belongs to the person who built it, the condition inspection is an A&P's job, and the aircraft's operating limitations are its own. Figures are CubCrafters' for a lightly loaded demonstrator and the real useful load is on the aircraft's weight-and-balance. The CC340 is a high-compression engine that wants 100LL or the approved fuel in the logs, and the big tyres and long gear most of them wear change the handling and the hangar footprint.

- Each of the five categories places the model within its peer class, from 0 (the worst of the class) to 10 (the best): a position among comparable models, not a grade. The overall score is the sum of the categories shown that are scored, out of 10 for each (50 when all five are); it is given only when at least 4 of the five are scored, and it can be set against another model's only when both are in the same peer class and scored on the same categories. When accident record and severity cannot be scored because the model has too few records, the other three give a partial score out of 30, labelled as such; it is never set against a full score.
