Gulfstream Aerospace GVII-G500

Everything here is true of every aircraft of the type, not of any one aircraft.

The Gulfstream G500 is a large-cabin intercontinental jet with full fly-by-wire controls operated through active side-sticks — the first business aircraft to use them — and the company's signature oval windows. It carries up to nineteen passengers, typically twelve to thirteen, 5,300 nautical miles at 516 knots.

This is the top end of corporate aviation and is operated by flight departments rather than individuals: two or three crew, a dedicated hangar, and fixed costs before a single flight in the millions. What it buys is genuine intercontinental capability with a cabin altitude of 4,850 feet at 51,000, which passengers notice on a long flight. Gulfstream's product support network is consistently rated the best in business aviation, which is a real part of the value. Used values track delivery position and programme enrolment.

  3. Access: class median 9,850.
  4. Support: class median 197.5.
  5. Liquidity: class median 32.81.
  6. Each of the five categories places the model within its peer class, from 0 (the worst of the class) to 10 (the best): a position among comparable models, not a grade. The overall score is the sum of the categories shown that are scored, out of 10 for each (50 when all five are); it is given only when at least 4 of the five are scored, and it can be set against another model's only when both are in the same peer class and scored on the same categories. When accident record and severity cannot be scored because the model has too few records, the other three give a partial score out of 30, labelled as such; it is never set against a full score.
