Embraer EMB-550
Everything here is true of every aircraft of the type, not of any one aircraft.
The Embraer Legacy 500 is a midsize business jet and the first in its class with full fly-by-wire flight controls and sidesticks, technology that until then belonged to airliners and large-cabin jets. It carries eight to twelve people 3,125 nautical miles at 466 knots with a flat-floor stand-up cabin.
Embraer designed it from scratch rather than stretching something, and it shows: the cabin is genuinely six feet tall, the ride is smooth, and the fly-by-wire brings envelope protection and a very light workload. It was replaced by the Praetor 500 in 2020, so this is a defined production run of a few hundred aircraft rather than an ongoing line. A EMB-550 type rating is required, two HTF7500 engines and about 250 gallons an hour set the operating cost, and Embraer's support network, while good, is younger than Gulfstream's or Textron's.

These record scores treat Embraer EMB-550 as one design with the same aircraft registered under other names: it includes 2 aircraft registered under EMBRAER EXECUTIVE AIRCRAFT INC. Prices are not combined.
- Accident record: class median 1.23 · 42 models in class.
- Severity: class median 10.
- Access: class median 9,850.
- Support: class median 197.5.
- Liquidity: class median 32.81.
- Each of the five categories places the model within its peer class, from 0 (the worst of the class) to 10 (the best): a position among comparable models, not a grade. The overall score is the sum of the categories shown that are scored, out of 10 for each (50 when all five are); it is given only when at least 4 of the five are scored, and it can be set against another model's only when both are in the same peer class and scored on the same categories. When accident record and severity cannot be scored because the model has too few records, the other three give a partial score out of 30, labelled as such; it is never set against a full score.
